Follow divergent thinking guidelines
Create Breakthroughs
The second stage of CPS is Transformation. Ideational Thinking and Evaluative Thinking complement each other to move forward in the Thinking Skills Model.
Leaders skilled in ideational thinking encourage ideas to explore possibilities, while also respecting ideas are incomplete thoughts. A safe environment where ideas are welcome in order to experience surprise, energy and competitive advantage are key.
Ideational Thinking is deliberately playful in order to break away from a serious work mindset. The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas. Divergent exercises are central to ideation. Keeping the imagination sharp and the mind flexible allows for an explosion of novel ideas to emerge.
The purpose of ideational thinking is to get a breakthrough.
Original thought comes from fresh perspectives, beyond the surface of typical ideas.
